Virginia Legislative Update – 2015 General Assembly Session Results

The 2015 Session of the Virginia General Assembly will reconvene tomorrow, April 15, for a final vote on the Governor’s amendments and vetoes to the bills placed before him last month by our Delegates and Representatives. The Peacock Law Firm maintains active membership on the Virginia Legislative Committee of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute and is proud to bring you an update on the many successes of the Virginia Legislative Action Committee (VALAC) this year.

There are six (6) mail bills up for final vote that directly affect Community Associations in the Commonwealth.  The bills address topics ranging from quorum requirements at membership meetings, unit rental or leasing restrictions, Common Interest Community Board responsibilities and the impact of bank-led foreclosures on community associations.

Susan Tarley, Esq. of the Tarley Robinson law firm chairs the VALAC and provided on the Tarley Robinson blog a clear, concise summary of how each of these six bills will affect condominium and homeowners associations in Virginia.  For your convenience, we provide below the verbatim text of Sue’s comments on each bill.
