Louisiana: Property manager sued by man allegedly injured after falling into dumpster

By KYLE BARNETT

A condo association is being sued by a man who claims he was severely injured when he fell into a dumpster after the condominium’s property manager allegedly told him he would be arrested unless he retrieved boxes he had disposed of in the dumpster.

Rodney Praetorius filed suit against Metairie Towers Condominium Association Inc., Endurance American Insurance Company, Property One Inc. and Gwendolyn Lee in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 12.

Praetorius contends he had just finished replacing a set of window blinds at a condominium in the Metairie Towers building located at 401 Metairie Road in Metairie when Lee, in her capacity as an employee of Property One, told him to retrieve the boxes and threatened to call the police and have him arrested if he did not do so. The plaintiff asserts that when he stepped into the dumpster to retrieve the empty boxes he slipped and fell and severely injured his left knee and leg.
