WELLINGTON, Fla. —A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy is facing a costly legal battle to keep his 4-year-old mixed-breed dog Sasha, after the Homeowners Association at his Whispering Woods neighborhood told him he was breaking its rules and must get rid of the family pet. Kenneth Torrence said he moved into the neighborhood three years ago after the developer assured him there were no breed restrictons. But last year, a new HOA board sent a letter informing him the covenants did not allow pit bulls and he would have to get rid of Sasha.

Torrence maintains the dog is a mixed breed who only resembles a pit bull; he said he had DNA analysis done, and the dog is a mix of five different breeds, including Springer Spaniel.  Read more:
